What is Capoeira?

Capoeira is an Afro Brazilian martial arts invented by the slaves of Brazil to fight their masters. The slaves weren’t allowed to train fighting, so they cleverly disguised it as a dance. Capoeira has continued to evolve and adapt to the changing world and continues to be a fight of freedom.

About our Instructor

Instrutor Canudo has dedicated himself to capoeira under the guidance of his master, Mestre Betinho. Throughout the years, he explored many different styles of capoeira and has had the privilege to train under Mestre Salario from the group FICAGE in Campinas, Sao Paulo Brazil; and Mestre Fran from the group Maculele in Atlanta. But Canudo always stayed loyal to Karkara and Mestre Betinho, and came here to Georgia to follow in his masters footsteps in opening an academy and building his community.
